My Mini Melissa

I have a confession to make.

I don't own a pair of Melissa shoes.  I'm honestly too afraid to enter their store - for fear that when I come out - I will have started a love affair with Melissa shoes.  I've always admired the store from the outside simply because it's very well lit.  I love that the store is bright and simple - and that the main attraction really are the shoes.  I secretly love the smell too!  Hahaha.

A few weeks ago, Kailee and I were invited to the My Mini Melissa event at the East Wing of Shangri-La Mall.  I was really excited to get to know the brand and meet the people behind the brand.  I was surprised to see familiar faces, some were schoolmates while some were very familiar friendly faces (that I'm sure I've met somewhere some time)

We were asked to come in matching outfits.  I really wanted to come literally in matching outfits - unfortunately, there was a limitation - my size!  Hahaha..  So what I did was the next best thing.  Wear matching colors - and we came in full force - in Pink!  Hahaha.

When we got to venue - everyone was so cute - because they were really matching!  There was the stripes teams, the color coordinated team (we belong here), and the literally matching Mommy and Mini-Me outfits.  I seriously envied the Mom & Mini-Me outfits because they were just too cute!  I realized - I really need to lose weight (this topic garners another post! Hahaha!)  It was such a nice thing to see fellow moms who were game and were matchy matchy with their daughters.  It was then that I realized - that this was one of those perfect excuses to dress up matchy matchy.

One of the perks of having a daughter is that she is literally your small living doll.  I really love that I can dress her up and pick what she wears!  Haha.. Controlling, but seriously - it's so much fun.  I'm sure those who know me will agree with me that I truly lack *style* - yes, I am boring and not adventurous, hahaha!  But with Kailee - I really love to make her wear dresses and girly shoes!  It's honestly hard to pick her shoes though, because the selections that we have in the malls are quite limited.  And I am so very glad and blessed that we got the chance to have our own pairs of Melissa shoes!  During the event, we also were tasked to make our own Passport Covers - it was such a nice crafty afternoon as Kailee was telling me where to put the designs.

This is what I got for Kailee (picture below).  She picked this style herself!  She was torn between this style and the bear design (look at the bear shoes above).  But when she tried this pair on - it was as if she fell in love with it and refused to take it off!  She wore her Melissa shoes during the whole event!  She was playing on the stage, running around and being her playful self.  At the end of the event, I asked her if her feet hurt - and she said no.  When we got home, she was so proud of the shoes that she got, that she flaunted it to my Panget.  The pair she picked is a classic, you can actually pair this with short, capris, pants, skirts or dresses.  It's very versatile and is not so difficult to pair with.  Plus, it's super soft, easily cleaned and smells really nice!  I need to say it again - it smells really nice!!  I'm glad that Melissa have come up with styles for our little girls too - they can also enjoy the comfort of a Melissa shoe without sacrificing fashion.

As for me, I chose to get - a pair of red pumps!  A powerful red shoe has been my ultimate dream and I am so happy with this choice!  I tried it on and one look in the mirror and I knew - this was it.  When I got home, I walked around wearing the pumps in my closet.  I was admiring how pretty they were on my feet (in the mirror) - Kailee was confused and thrilled at the same time to see me doing it, that she too wanted to wear her Mini Melissa pair and follow me!

Thank you Melissa Philippines for our pairs of Melissa and Mini Melissa shoes!  Kailee and I are forever grateful!

Breastfeeding Mama!

"Welcome to the Milk Mama Diaries Carnival (July). For this month, we join the National Nutrition Council - Department of Health in celebrating Nutrition Month with the theme "Isulong ang Breastfeeding - Tama, Sapat at EKsklusibo!" Participants will share their experiences in promoting breastfeeding or their tips on how breastfeeding should be promoted. Please scroll down to the end of this post and check out the other carnival participants." When I got pregnant, I knew instantly that I would be breastfeeding my baby.  My mom found it odd that I decided to breastfeed - this was because I grew up formula fed.  My twin brother and I were given formula since birth, there was no attempt whatsoever to breastfeed.  In fact my mom recounted that she was given medicine to stop the milk production.  My pedia, Dr. Joy Ty-Sy said that during my mom's time (when she had us) it was the boom of formulas, that it was the trend that time.  I grew up with formula, my c

ANSON SUPERMARKET - Grocery delivery!!

Sharing is caring, so we can't keep it a secret any longer.  THIS is where we get out groceries!  Well, Anson Supermarket has been where we have been purchasing all of our kids' diapers!  From Kailee to Connor to Shobe!  Yes, yes, yes! A week into the lockdown, it just occurred to us that we can get our groceries from them - but then we thought, we didn't want to force them to do it - after all it's a different time now.  But when we asked and they said yes, it was like we won the lottery.  We sent out our list - a very VERY SPECIFIC list and voila after a day or two (we weren't in a rush) they told us to schedule a pick up.  Please remember that I am sharing this with you guys because I believe so much in the saying 'sharing is caring'.  Please be mindful of your language and respect those who will call or message you about your orders.  Also note that some items might NOT be available - so manage your expectations.   They're a full functioning

#CookingQuest: Winter Melon Soup ala Didi #EnhancedCommunity

One of the things that gets ooohs and aaaahs in a chinese restaurant is the #WinterMelonSoup.   You may ask why?  Well because with this soup, restaurants use the winter melon itself as a huge bowl to serve the soup!  It's a sight to see as you'll be amazed how they were able to pull it off.  You'll see the whole winter melon, and then suddenly they're take out the top part and when you peek in, the soup is inside together with meat bits and other veggies!  My mom has tried it at home, and I remember her being nervous that the winter melon doesn't break apart, kunde sira ang presentation! So during this #EnhancedCommunityQuarantine, I chanced upon Theo's Farm that they have winter melon, so I ordered.  When I saw it - I knew I wouldn't be able to pull off the carving and serving the winter melon.  It actually made the preparation easier.  I had to ask my mom, and she told me to steam the winter melon to soften it.  Honestly, I don't think I can w
