Cooking made easy with Lee Kum Kee!!

I would remember watching the cooking show of the Daza's with a Lee Kum Kee segment.  They made cooking Chinese food look so easy.  My mom would tell me that she would just experiment, put this and that and voila!  At that time I couldn't understand how she can cook without measuring ingredients.  Well, that was until I learned how to really cook.  It was literally - experimental!  Hahaha..

I was so happy to attend a cooking workshop with moms by Lee Kum Kee.  You see, my dishes have become a bit boring and redundant.  So I was very excited to learn the recipes of fellow mommies!  I was surprised to see how easy their recipes were to be honest.  I guess every mom has a secret *easy-to-do recipe* using Lee Kum Kee!  I think my Panget is already bored with the dishes that I serve him, so I'm glad to learn new recipes from fellow moms - the best part about it is - it's so easy to prepare and make!!

You know what else I learned?  That every mom has a different cooking style!  Hahaha!  It was so fun to see them all in action.  I learned a lot from their cooking styles and their tips too!  The best part was tasting them all, and they were all very good!  So happy that I can make them at home!  Thanks to Lee Kum Kee!!

The Mom cooks (L-R) Eliza, Michelle, Suzi and Mish with Lee Kum Kee Southeast Asian Regional Category Manager for Soy - Shiao Chew (in the middle)

Shiao Chew introduced us to her Lee Kum Kee's history.  I was surprised to learn that Lee Kum Kee cultures their own oysters so that they can only get the most premium of oysters and make them into the best oyster sauce in the market.  Would you believe that Lee Kum Kee is a four (4) generation family owned company?  Four generations!  Wow, that really says a LOT of their family's pride and belief in their products!  It's also very nice to know that the family is still very much involved in the decision making process and direction of Lee Kum Kee.

This is the Lee Kum Kee Sesame Oil - this was staple during my Ge Lai days after giving birth!
I am so in like with Sesame Oil that I put it on my dishes all the time!  I most of the time have a small condiment saucer with Sesame Oil with pepper.  Hihi..

This is the Panda brand Oyster Sauce of Lee Kum Kee

This is what the fab moms used for their recipes on the demo.  I make sure to include this in my grocery list because it makes any simple dish stand out.  I don't know why - but I feel that it's an integral part of my kitchen condiment cab.  It's a sauce that is quite versatile as you can use it on meat, poultry, seafood and veggies!  It's an amazing product.  I learned this from my mom too!  And she learned it from her mom.  I guess, this product is really good as it spans generations over!

Here are the fabulous moms at work, they shared to us, their own Lee Kum Kee recipe using the Panda brand Oyster Sauce!

Here is the Thai Omelette from Mommy Suzi

Here she is sharing the recipe and technique!

Look at that perfect omelette!  Hahaha..  It tastes so good too!

Here is Mommy Michelle's Tofu Saute

A simple dish for those who like Tofu!

Looks so simple?  The taste is even better!

Here is Mommy Mish's Salmon

Mish taught us to marinate first so that all the flavor will seep into the salmon!

Yummy?  Healthy!

Here is Mommy Eli's Zenmayang Zhu Cai

We were all entertained by Eli with the cooking and stories!  Her dish is the simplest one among all but believe me, it packs the punch!  Simple yet healthy!  You only need asparagus, garlic and Lee Kum Kee's Panda brand Oyster Sauce!

I can finish this, and just this!  It's so good!  Since it's asparagus - HEALTHY!

So last weekend, I did my own version at making something different using Lee Kum Kee products.  One of my favorite vegetable is the eggplant.  Even if it doesn't have any *healthy* contributions, I love it nevertheless.  I would always look forward to ordering dishes with eggplant.  My Panget would always tease me that eggplants have no nutritional value (compared to the other veggies) but still - I would order it.  I remember in Beijing - I would always order a dish with Qie Zi! :)

Here is what I made using the Menu Oriented Sauce - Spicy Garlic Eggplant

I loved it, my Panget loved it too!  He thought it was very good!  Hahaha..  It's a really simple dish and all I needed were the minced meat, cut up eggplant and the Lee Kum Kee Spicy Eggplant sauce.  I couldn't believe how simple it was.  No need to season it anymore!  Just follow the instructions at the back of the package and voila - instant Chinese restaurant-ish dish for the family!  It's not spicy if you ask me, it just looks scary because of the *red* oil.

  1. That Chili Garlic Eggplant is my favorite. I cook three batches at once each time. Sarap! This made A eat eggplant. Hehehe. I know it already contains a bit of sesame oil, but I still add a dash after cooking para extra bango factor. Nommy!

Breastfeeding Mama!

"Welcome to the Milk Mama Diaries Carnival (July). For this month, we join the National Nutrition Council - Department of Health in celebrating Nutrition Month with the theme "Isulong ang Breastfeeding - Tama, Sapat at EKsklusibo!" Participants will share their experiences in promoting breastfeeding or their tips on how breastfeeding should be promoted. Please scroll down to the end of this post and check out the other carnival participants." When I got pregnant, I knew instantly that I would be breastfeeding my baby.  My mom found it odd that I decided to breastfeed - this was because I grew up formula fed.  My twin brother and I were given formula since birth, there was no attempt whatsoever to breastfeed.  In fact my mom recounted that she was given medicine to stop the milk production.  My pedia, Dr. Joy Ty-Sy said that during my mom's time (when she had us) it was the boom of formulas, that it was the trend that time.  I grew up with formula, my c

ANSON SUPERMARKET - Grocery delivery!!

Sharing is caring, so we can't keep it a secret any longer.  THIS is where we get out groceries!  Well, Anson Supermarket has been where we have been purchasing all of our kids' diapers!  From Kailee to Connor to Shobe!  Yes, yes, yes! A week into the lockdown, it just occurred to us that we can get our groceries from them - but then we thought, we didn't want to force them to do it - after all it's a different time now.  But when we asked and they said yes, it was like we won the lottery.  We sent out our list - a very VERY SPECIFIC list and voila after a day or two (we weren't in a rush) they told us to schedule a pick up.  Please remember that I am sharing this with you guys because I believe so much in the saying 'sharing is caring'.  Please be mindful of your language and respect those who will call or message you about your orders.  Also note that some items might NOT be available - so manage your expectations.   They're a full functioning

#CookingQuest: Winter Melon Soup ala Didi #EnhancedCommunity

One of the things that gets ooohs and aaaahs in a chinese restaurant is the #WinterMelonSoup.   You may ask why?  Well because with this soup, restaurants use the winter melon itself as a huge bowl to serve the soup!  It's a sight to see as you'll be amazed how they were able to pull it off.  You'll see the whole winter melon, and then suddenly they're take out the top part and when you peek in, the soup is inside together with meat bits and other veggies!  My mom has tried it at home, and I remember her being nervous that the winter melon doesn't break apart, kunde sira ang presentation! So during this #EnhancedCommunityQuarantine, I chanced upon Theo's Farm that they have winter melon, so I ordered.  When I saw it - I knew I wouldn't be able to pull off the carving and serving the winter melon.  It actually made the preparation easier.  I had to ask my mom, and she told me to steam the winter melon to soften it.  Honestly, I don't think I can w
