DIDIscoveries: Johns Cookers: Southern Fried Chicken in Examiner

We pass by Examiner on a regular basis and so we are witness to so many things - existing eat-all-you-can restos, new small restos popping up here and there, car washes that are open 24/7 and of course the ABS-CBN warehouse (or sort of) that is the main *sorting* ground when there are relief operations. So, two weeks ago - we suddenly noticed that the place that Cassava Creme used to occupy is now Johns Cookers!  We slowed down to see the place it was very well lit and new (obviously!)  My Panget told me that we should try it sometime - it was perfect because that day, we didn't have a helper, so I thought to buy some take out. I dropped by the place right after I heard Mass in a nearby Church.  I was greeted with smiles.  The menu was fairly standard - they were offering burgers and chicken.  I asked for their specialty and they told me that it was the fried chicken.  You know how much of a sucker I am for friend chicken - and so I ordered.  Initi...

8Cuts Burger & Linguini Fini

Last weekend, we were very early in Megamall - as in really early.  We got there while the mall was still closed (but they were letting in cars in the parking areas).  It was my first time to be early in SM - and they were very strict, ha!  No one could enter - as in NO ONE.  When the clock struck 10am and right after playing the 'We've Got It All For You' song - they started to let people in. Our first stop was Active Fun.  I previously let the kids play there and they enjoyed their time there so much.  So after paying for their playtime - my kids were made to wait.  I wondered why, so I asked the attendants who were cleaning.  I asked them 'What time do you open?' and this was the reply I got - 'We're still cleaning'.  One of my pet peeve is poor listening skills.  I then was irked and told them 'I was merely asking what time you opened, so that next time - I can bring my kids at that time so they won't need to wait'  The nic...

Green Pastures: Original Local Organic

I finally FINALLY got to try Green Pastures and I super loved it, looooooooved it! I know, I am gushing - but in all seriousness, I really really liked the meal and the service. It's been open for a long while now, but since we were always battling the Sunday lunch crowd - well, it was always that we were the 10th in line or so.  And a few weeks ago, we finally got to try it!  To be honest, that Sunday I wasn't too keen on being able to dine in Green Pastures - I left my name and number but since my Panget deemed it was still too early for lunch, we walked to Rustan's first.  It was when we got out of Rustan's that my Panget told me that he wanted to try our luck in Green Pastures - and since there was a Mass ongoing - I told him to hurry, because in less than a few minutes the lunch crowd would be surging!  I think I was brisk walking - I was so scared to be left behind since I really wanted to try the restaurant.  We got there just in the nick of t...
