Yaya Diaries: Diva Drama

Aaaaand the saga continues.... I have said it before, but I will say it again. Can't live with them, can't live without them. I have long wanted to replace this sort of all around helper of mine.  I say sort of because technically, she just cleans and cooks.  When you say all around, it means - she does everything from cleaning to cooking, to laundry.  But the laundry part, I know for a fact will take a LOT of their time, so I take it out of their responsibilities.  With just cleaning and cooking - they have more than enough time to rest and do the necessary things. I am not strict when it comes to household chores.  I just have a few NON-NEGOTIABLES such as cleaning all the used bathrooms everyday, as well as the dining area, kitchens, and bedroom.  All the rest the helpers can clean anytime *once* within the week.  I created a schedule for them, but I find that they don't follow it at all.  So I trust them enough to just do the important...

Yaya Diaries: Yaya Babylyn & how I got suckered

I got suckered. Yes, I have to admit it - I got suckered big time. You see, I have been looking for a househelp.  My SIL sent me a message and it was in perfect timing.  She said that her previous maid is looking for work, she asked if I needed a helper and at that time.  I did.  So I called Yaya Babylyn - I spoke to her and we exchanged text messages.  She asked if I can send her money for her transportation.  I was reluctant at first, but then since she came highly recommended by my SIL (my SIL said she knew how to cook and take care of a child and was nice) so I agreed.  But on the day I was supposed to send it, she sent me a text saying not to send anymore because she still had to attend to some things at her child's school.  I thought, at least she was honest enough to tell me not to send it, right?  After a few days, she told me to look for other prospects - she said that she doesn't want me to wait for nothing.  And so I looke...

Yaya Diaries: Guidelines for Yaya Interviews

You can read more about my Yaya Diaries at THIS link. I'm sharing with you guys the guidelines that I have made in interviewing yayas.  This is not a foolproof way, but just a guide.  When I was looking for a yaya, I didn't have this, I made this up to help out friends.  I thought that this is one way to pay it forward and help new moms.  I apologize for the Tag-Lish language.. Hihi.. I hope you get to use this or at least help you guys narrow out what you need to ask.  Remember that there are some yayas who interview very well, but can't perform.  It's really a trial and error if you ask me, so Good Luck! If you have suggestions or added insights, please feel free to add them at the comment section!   1.  Ilan taon ka na?  May asawa?  Ilan ang anak?  Nasan ang pamilya? -  You must decide how old you want your yaya to be.  A young yaya may not know many things, but an old yaya might have a hard time with the...

Batas Kasambahay

And its official - the IRR (implementing rules and regulations) is already out and will be fully implemented by June 3, 2013. Make sure to read through the IRR and ask questions on the provisions that confuse you.  I'll try my best to help you in clarifying them.  FYI - I am NOT in anyway connected to DOLE or any PEA.  I am no expert too!  But I am willing to help since I've been doing for a while already. I know its a big adjustment for some, but luckily for me - I was already giving these benefits to my helpers (I learned it through my mom). I have a soft copy of the IRR plus the contracts and payslips.  If you want a copy, kindly leave your email address on the comment section, so I can send it to you.  I don't know how to upload a PDF file to blogger.  Sorry!!   Click this link to download the IRR contract and payslips! If you have questions - kindly leave them on the comment section and I'll try my bestest to answer them. ...
