Mama Lou's Nuvali

Last year, I saw tweets of friends mentioning Mama Lou's - an Italian kitchen in the South.  It got me curious, so I followed them on Twitter.  I've been hearing how good their food was and I was so interested to try it.  Unfortunately -we're located on opposite sides of the Metro.  It was quite difficult for me to travel to the south and Mama Lou's doesn't deliver to QC. And so for months, I just contented myself with seeing tweet, and images on Instagram.  I even had a twitter conversation with Mama Lou's of how much I wanted to try their place out.  They kept telling me to visit - but I never found the time.  Then a few weeks ago - I was invited to go to Tagaytay - I gathered that on the way back - I just HAD to visit Mama Lou's.  And so I sent them a message on Twitter and FB of my intended visit to their Aguirre branch.  My doctor friends have told me that if I had the chance - to visit their BF Aguirre branch since it was more hom...

Green Pastures: Original Local Organic

I finally FINALLY got to try Green Pastures and I super loved it, looooooooved it! I know, I am gushing - but in all seriousness, I really really liked the meal and the service. It's been open for a long while now, but since we were always battling the Sunday lunch crowd - well, it was always that we were the 10th in line or so.  And a few weeks ago, we finally got to try it!  To be honest, that Sunday I wasn't too keen on being able to dine in Green Pastures - I left my name and number but since my Panget deemed it was still too early for lunch, we walked to Rustan's first.  It was when we got out of Rustan's that my Panget told me that he wanted to try our luck in Green Pastures - and since there was a Mass ongoing - I told him to hurry, because in less than a few minutes the lunch crowd would be surging!  I think I was brisk walking - I was so scared to be left behind since I really wanted to try the restaurant.  We got there just in the nick of t...

Gino's Brick Oven Pizza - Revisited

I know it's too early to make another post, but I can't help it.  I really love pizza and I think Gino's Brick Oven Pizza deserves another entry here! So I have been craving for pizza and decided that I wanted to eat at Gino's.  I can't stop thinking about the burrata and the pizzas! I ordered only one pizza because it was just 4 adults, plus we got 3 pastas!  My Panget said that he didn't like the feeling of a 'carbo' load.  I on the other hand, welcome it!  Hahaha.. These are what we got: Summer Salad with Burrata I'm sorry but this what was left.  I was too excited to eat it and when I remembered to take a picture, this was what was left.  I'm sorry.  But this was good!  Although, I still prefer just the burrata.  My Panget was the one who insisted the salad part.  But it's good rin naman  Classic Carbonarra Who doesn't love Carbonarra?  I personally love it!  It's a comfort food for me. ...

Papa John's The Secret Behind Better Ingredients, Better Pizza!!

The Secret Behind Better Ingredients, Better Pizza Papa John’s offers sumptuous pizzas that will definitely score a high five. Do you ever wonder why  Papa John’s is one of the best Pizza Restaurants? Here are at least five reasons why: 1) The Dough   When was the last time you ordered pizza, which came   with real dough (and not biscuit)? Or when was the last time you   ordered pizza that wasn't oily? Minus good dough pizza isn't a pizza. Papa John's dough is baked fresh. It's hot, it's soft, and it's chewy - nice!   2) Ingredients Pizzas are topped with generous servings, while pastas and sides ooze with flavor - the merry mix of ingredients feel like they dance on your palate.   They say they are "Better Pizza. Better Ingredients". Must be. It really does make a difference when ingredients are fresh. You'd see and taste it. 3) Pizza Variety  "Super Papa" is Papa John's top of the line with the ...

Gino's Brick Oven Pizza

In all honesty - two of my favorite food in the world!  Pizza and doughnuts, and yes they're housed in the same spot along Katipunan in Quezon City. I knew of Cello's doughnuts from way back in 2006 - I was gifted by my friend Kim a box of their assorted mini doughnuts for Christmas.  I especially loved the cheese doughnut - I think it was called ensaymada doughnut before.  As for Gino's Brick Oven Pizza, I've been hearing about it from my friend Kath and Fran, but I never got the chance to try it. Early this year, I learned that my good friends Brian and his wife invested into the company.  I was very excited because I love pizzas and doughnuts!  Here's a preview of what we ordered: Burata When I posted this on my IG, I got a LOT of reactions! Brian says that their Burata run out fast!  As in really really fast!  So come in early to be able to order this! I loved the texture and taste of this simple yet very flavorful appetizer,...

Cooking Quest: Aglio Olio

I know its the simplest pasta dish one can ever make.  But every time I tried in the past, the garlic burns out.  As you all know, I prefer baking to cooking - but since I have been craving for food, food - then I need to cook!  I just recently discovered (a late bloomer in me) that I can actually watch how a dish is made over youtube!  What a brilliant idea right?  I think this has been done for years but the late-techie-bloomer in me just discovered this - just last December. And so, here - the fruit of my labor!! According to the video that I saw, the trick was to place the garlic on a cool pan with olive oil and then cook it in low heat.  It was just that simple! I now have an easy dish to prepare for impromptu guests!  Hehe.. So there, another successful cooking quest!
