That Thing Called Tadhana

I have admitted time and time again that I like Pinoy movies. But I am choosy in picking which flick to watch. There are certain actors/actresses that I like and dislike on screen.  So that pretty much sums up what I choose to watch. For the past weeks and months, I have been seeing posters of the movie *That thing called Tadhana* I've been wanting to watch it BUT I don't have anyone to watch it with. Nope, my Panget refuses to watch with me - and I respect that. So along comes this Facebook thread - an online friend apparently has a copy and is able to *drop* it for me. I have it in less than an hour. WONDERFUL! And so I watched it. So, where do broken hearts go? I don't know. But I remember - the heartbreak that I felt years ago.  I was broken.  I was shocked.  I was hurt.  I was depressed.  I cut my hair.  I made a change.  They said it was the best revenge.  Was it?  Well, I don't know.  I guess, I wa...

We aim to please: the movie version+ Bluray Unrated release

Update:  03/25/2015 - and I was just talking about the uncut version.  The official DVD will be released in May 2015 - Digital copies on May 1 and BluRay ones on May 8!! Sneak peak?  Scroll to the end of the post!! ------- So last weekend, I finally got a copy of the movie Fifty Shades of Grey.  Nope, not a blurry copy.  It was a clear copy - when you view it on the laptop.  Hooked it up on the TV and it was okay - not the HD copy that I'm used to.  There were was no blurring on the *sensitive* parts of the movie.  Well, it was an *uncut* copy, so.... Was it just me?  But, I found the movie rushed.  But I guess 2 hours wasn't really enough to cover the whole book.  I felt bad for the movie though, because it could have been much more!  I wish though that there was more of the *talking* than the sex.  But that's just me.  Hahaha!!  Am I KJ?  I guess so.  The book was filled with dialogue ex...

District 9: What the ?!?!

What the ?!?! This was my reaction for the first hour - I thought I was watching a documentary instead of a movie. And the aliens? Prawns?? What the ?!?! The movie was funny and entertaining all right, but well - I was expecting LOTS of action sans the Prawns. I wish the 'action' part was longer - it was exciting as hell!! So - will there be a part duex?

Star Trek & JJ Abrams

Borrowed from THIS site I have said this time and time again - and still, I say it now - JJ ABRAMS IS BRILLIANT!! I am HUGE HUGE fan of JJ Abrams, from Felicity till now!!! :) I get excited whenever I hear or read of his project - I am SURE to catch the, and I am also SURE to enjoy them!! :) The cast worked well together, I especially loved the comic relief!! :) Star Trek is such a delight to see!! Panget and I are contemplating of watching it again!! Tara?? Chris Pine and Sylar did an amaaaaaaaaaaaazing job!! :) I used to think that Star Trek was for nerds or geeks - and now, after watching - I think I am an official Trekkie!!! Looooooooooooooved the movie!! (found it even better than Wolverine!!) JJ Abrams - you're the BOMB!!

FIREPROOF: The Movie

Borrowed from THIS site Panget's mom has been convincing me for months to watch this movie. She said watching it may help me and my Panget in our future endeavor, that we should see it together - but for those who know me, I am not a mapilit person - I don't force anything on my Panget, he's free to do as he pleases ( just as long as he knows his boundaries - isn't Panget the luckiest? Yes! But does he know? I hope he does!! ) It took me a while to finally see it, but at long last - I have!! The movie is great, I mean it teaches us that love is immeasurable, giving, forgiving and most of all patient. Love sees no limits, no boundaries, and most of all is free for everyone to enjoy and cherish. The movies does address many issues that all couples face everyday. The movie teaches us to love wholly, freely and without asking for anything in return. It is very ideal, especially to those who have faith, or believe in something. There's a great feeling after watc...

A Very Special Love & You Changed my Life

A month ago (I think) - I was surprise to receive a YM message from an old friend, Dondon. He was asking how I was and we got to chat. He was part of the group I was with when we did a Metro Manila Filmfest marathon one Christmas - can you imagine was saw 5 different Tagalog movies in a span of 12 hours! I associate Tagalog movie discussions with Dondon, why? Well, because he's the only guy I know who is as observant as I am when watching tagalog movies! You see we were having a discussion on something (it escapes me now) then we were trying our best to identify this certain movie, we threw in lines, scenes, actors in the movie but our efforts were futile. So how did we finally settle the discussion - it was when we identified a certain dance number on top of a building that we were able to piece it together. It was a dance number of Benedict Aquino and Gretchen Barretto on the top floor of a building located somewhere in Manila! The dancing scene was so badly choreographed ...

Definitely, Maybe

I don't remember where I saw the trailer of this movie, but when I saw it was a Ryan Reynolds - romantic comedy-ish flick - I knew I had to watch it. So when I visited our suki Wheng in Metrowalk - I was surprised to see that the title was already available! Of course, you know what I did. I bought it but watched it just last weekend. I loved the movie - call me cheesy - but I loved it! :) It was sweet and lovely! Isla Fisher is so cute and was perfect for the role!! :) Ryan Reynolds - well, whatever he does - I like, yes, I'm biased! Loved him from his 2 Guys a Girl and a Pizza place stint! I can't believe that Rachel Weisz accepted such a small role! But she was cute in it! I could feel the love she had for Kevin Kline's character! Found it funny he was in the movie - I always have this image of Dave in my head when I see him. Hahaha! If you want a feel good movie - then this is it!! :)

Camp Rock!

Photo grabbed from THIS site I never thought I'd like this movie, but I did! I got curious because HK tourmate Reena said it was really nice. I loved it!! I've been hearing a song by the Jonas brothers and some girl on the radio - I was shocked to learned that it was from this movie! Joe Jonas is such a cutie!! :) Another great one from Disney! :)

Wanted

The movie was wonderful! I loved the action scenes! I just have to say - Matrix revolutionized the slow-mo-replay thingie. But this movie stepped it up a notch!! The only disappointing thing for me was that - I was expecting Wesley to do more killings! Hahaha... :) Angelina Jolie was so HOT! Oh my gosh! I was telling my Panget - and he just smiled! Well, he knew I was biased! Hahaha... :)

Sex and the City: The Movie

Good thing I brought with me somewhat low/close to none expectations.. because... I so LOOOOOOOOOOVED the movie!! I'm not a big fan of the show, I mean I like it and watch it, but I don't go into too much show details (like I do on FRIENDS). The movie was wonderful - it was a long version of the TV show, which was great! I mean, it was like watching a marathon! Michael Patrick King - was GOOOOOOOD!! I mean to transition from a TV show to a movie - he did a very good job!! The movie didn't feel too long (it was almost!) but it was just alright. I think if you're confined to have everyone's story wrapping up in 2 hours - he did it fashionably great! So, what were my favorite parts of the movie: (they come in no particular order) WARNING: Spoilers ahead!! The gorgeous walk-in closet! I think most everyone will want that kind of closet! Paging Panget! I want that one too!! The Toss-Take fashion show! I loved how they kept the old dresses!! Seeing the 4 gals ...

Ironman

It was such a wonderful movie! I loved it to bits! Thinking of watching it again!! Hahaha.. :) Robert Downey, Jr. was perfect! I loved Jon Favreau too!! He did great on this movie! Loved the humor!! Never had a dull moment. Seriously! Watch it!

The Weekend that was....

I will be posting in bullets. It was actually a lazy weekend, which I liked! I actually watched an FPJ movie on Channel 2! I was laughing at myself! Hahaha.. Went to Megamall to check out my Panget's display booth Ate at Banana Leaf - disappointing Thai food! The Tom Yum Kung was just all broth! Went to get take out at Banapple . Man was I disappointed with the Apple Pie! It tasted really blaaaaaaaaaaah!! But the Banofee Pie was really really good!! :) (I will be posting pictures soon!!) I started my Sunday with a Mass - and I loved it! It truly made my day.. Mom bought 1/2 kilos of oysters for a meager Php50.00! She made a delish Oyster Cake! Had an uber lazy afternoon, went to Metrowalk to get some DVDs - bought Superbad , Knocked-Up and I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry . Watched Superbad - it was super bad for me but my Panget loved it! (a guy movie) Ate at Little Asia in Promenade - the food was so so - nothing great. It was filling! Watched Knocked-Up and fe...

A Love Story

I'm such a fan of Tagalog movies! I especially love the Christmas holidays here in Manila because of the MMFF - Metro Manila Film Fest! You can ask my Panget and my friends about it - they'd snicker and say that I really do love Tagalog movies. Okay, so yesterday - I woke up early - to watch 'A Love Story' with my best friend KC at Trinoma. We decided to watch it on its first showing which was 1230pm so we can do some other stuffs in the afternoon. The cinema was not so full - but acutally - when I think about it - I think for a Sunday morning - and since the movie has been shown for about 2 weeks now - it was still quite full! Anyhow, most of those who watched with us were - women!! Hahah.. I know.. The movie was nice. I liked it! I mean I liked it. It was a different type of Tagalog movie. They say that for a Tagalog movie - when you get to see the trailer on TV - that's it, you've seen it all! But with this movie - I was curious - who was the wife an...

The Lake House

Before I go to bed - I usually watch a DVD - I either watch a series or a movie. Last night, I was planning to watch High School Musical - but then searched on my DVD stash - to see if there was a movie that I missed! I chanced upon 'The Lake House'! I was told by my friends that it was a nice one - of course, the Korean version - Il Mare was nicer. And so I watched it. And it made me cry!! Thrice! One thing though - I mean, if the guy was from the Past and he was doing little bits of details to change the future - won't that have a big effect on the future? Anyhooo.. I loved the movie!!! :)

The Weekend Review..

Again - this will be in bullets! hahaha.. Friday was actually a slow day - the highlight was my mom cooking crabs! Yummy! I couldn't believe that I dozed off at 9pm! I wasn't even able to catch my favorite Teleseryes! Since I slept at around 9pm - I woke up at 1:45 in the morning! I actually thought that it was morning already! Since I couldn't sleep - I watched TV for a couple of hours - then, when my eyelids felt heavy - I decided to sleep (agai Woke up to sounds of heavy rains! I was planning to to go the Rockwell Urban Bazaar to support my friend - a new and upcoming designer - Tammy Tan . But since it was raining cats and dogs - and for fear that I'd get stranded in Makati - I decided to skip it for the next day My Panget picked me up for his cousin's daughter's birthday party at Acropolis - the theme - a Disney Princess' birthday! :) The food was okay - the place was really cold!! But it was fun! After the party - we headed to Cyma i...

Georgia Rule, whaaaaaaaaat?!

I was quite excited when I bought the DVD. I hate to admit it, but I am a FAN of Lindsay Lohan - I've loved her since I saw her in the remake of Parent Trap. When I saw the trailer - I thought the movie was a comedy, with a little drama. Truth be told, I did not laugh once - nor did I shed a tear. I was really confused on the story! Was she telling the truth? Was she lying? Did it really happen or didn't it? So many many questions... In the end - I was more confused and I wanted answers! What happened afterward? Was there really a tape? How much money did they get? My take: Probably just 1 Star * (toing!!!!!) Was also very disappointed when I learned it was a Garry Marshall film - what a waste! But that's just me - I may have watched the movie on a bad day.. Hahahahaha!!

Transformers

FINALLY! The long wait is over! Watched it last night and I was blown away. There was only one thing that I didn't like - and it was Megatron. I didn't expect him to be all spiky, I was expecting the white/silver guy with the head like that of a Storm Trooper! But I guess, it was just me - those I was with, they didn't care! Haha.. The action scenes were terrific, the dialogue - well, I loved all of it! The humor too, it was a fan -tastic movie for me! I can watch it again and again! I loved the fact that I was surprised to see Bernie Mac aka Bobby Bolivia , Jon Voight aka Defense Secretaty Keller, Jon Tuturro as Agent Simmons, and Anthony Anderson aka Glenn Whitman The biggest hit in the movie for me was Sam Witwicky played by the youngs Shia Lebouf! I refer to him as the Even Stevens guy because he was in Even Stevens - the way he portrayed his character and delivered his lines - wow.. I'm such a fan! Now I know why this kid is such a 'hit' n...

James Bond & Daniel Craig: Casino Royale

Bond, James Bond. This line has been so familiar to us, it transcends generations and years - everyone knows James Bond. I've never been a fan of the James Bond franchise, it was my Panget who's a big fan. I remember fondly, while studying in Beijing - my friends and I had our weekly DVD shopping spree, and suddenly I found a complete set of the James Bond films - from Sean Connery, to Roger Moore, to Timothy Dalton, to Pierce Brosnan (did I miss anyone?) They had all the titles, what's worse was - they were being sold - irritatingly cheap! I was reluctant at first to purchase the whole thing, so I sent my Panget text message asking if he would like the whole set - as you may have guessed - he did. And so I proceeded and purchased the whole set. I don't remember the exact number of titles - but it was plenty! When I got back from Beijing - the first DVD that we watched together was a Sean Connery - James Bond flick. I kept on laughing because there were no soun...

The Prestige

Saw this last Sunday with my Panget, his brother and sis-in-law. I was told that this movie was great - that it had a lot of twist. My Panget's sister told us to listen intently - and so I did. I was quite confused on what event first transpired. It was like watching Memento all over again - there were a lot of flashbacks and it was a little confusing. The movie was going to and from the past to the present and vice versa. Maybe I expected too much.. I was quite shocked, impressed and found it funny when I saw that David Bowie was in the movie. The role fits him perfectly - but that's just me.
