Hong Kong will forever be a favorite food destination for me.  It will forever be #1 in my list for quick getaways.  I like it because I am familiar with it.  I can be adventurous and try new restaurants or I can trust the ones that I've been to and liked all these years.  I particularly love Chinese food.  Yes, I'm boring that way.  I find comfort in eating Chinese fare - I was asked by a cousin in law why I want to keep eating Chinese food.  Hong Kong, she says is a melting pot of cuisines all over the world - well, I particularly like Chinese food.  I just love it!  Hahaha.. I've been to Taiwan a number of times when I was younger, but to be honest - I don't remember what the food tastes like!  Was it because I was much younger and didn't care about food yet?  Hahaha!! Whenever my Panget and I are in GH - it was such a chore to think of a place to eat with the kids.  I have stopped going to Crystal Jade because during my last 2 visits - the dishes we got were poorly made.  I have to be honest - it wasn't the same anymore.  I hope though, that they can improve. One Friday last December, I had a dinner date with Michy of (i am) www.dekaphobe.com .  She invited me to try out Oriental Palace in Tomas Morato.  We had an evening filled with great good, endless stories and so much laughter.  I didn't want it to end, to be honest - I enjoyed the food and the wonderful conversation with Michy, Tadene and Cherie. Oriental Palace is where City Best used to be.  It has three entrances - one along Tomas Morato, one along Scout Gandia and one along Scout De Guia.  I am more familiar with the entrance in Scout Gandia.  From what I remember, the restaurant is HUGE. I mean really huge.  I was glad that when I entered - Oriental Palace has changed a few things.  Everything now is well lit, plus I like it that they set up the place to accommodate multiple functions at the same time.  They've built movable ceiling to floor walls to separate each function privately.  (I wasn't able to take pictures but I wil...

I first encountered Tim Ho Wan during last year's Hong Kong trip.  I enjoyed the food very much, especially the BBQ Pork Buns.  It was good and filling, too bad that we had to go all the way to North Point to enjoy it.  Last year too, I think the first international branch opened in Singapore.  I also was able to try it with some friends during our New Year Singapore trip.  And a few months back - Tim Ho Wan finally opened its doors in Mega Fashion Hall in Megamall. When it first opened, there was a long long queue to get it.  I like queueing - because its so civilized and polite.  There is no 'palakasan' when it comes to queueing - you really need to wait.  But one time, we went to Megamall early - and when we walked passed Tim Ho Wan and we were shocked since the line was so very very long and there was a sign that said that they will be opening at 12noon!  So imagine the wait - you queue immediately at 10am and wait until it opens at 1...

The first time I tried Tim Ho Wan was in North Point last year.  We were brought there by my Panget's cousin and I think I was the happiest chowing down so many barbecued pork buns!  Since his cousin was under the weather last week, we decided to have 'merienda' by ourselves.  And since we were in Central, I suggested that we walk to IFC.  Central has this massive covered walkways - so we walked on it towards IFC.  It was a relaxing walk - it wasn't crowded when we were there (it was about 2-3pm) when we reached IFC I asked the friendly attendant where Tim Ho Wan was - we were told to go down one level and then another level - and that it was on the MTR building.   So I followed his instructions. When I hear Hong Kong, the first thing that comes to mind is FOOD!  Yes, I think since I was little, I was led to believe that Chinese food in Hong Kong is the best - until now, I still believe this to be true.  So whenever I go to Hong Kong, I am sure to eat my fill of Chinese food. For the past few years, I have staple restaurants that I go to.  This year, with Kailee and my Panget - we decided in places that we haven't eaten before.  On top of the list is Fu Sing Seafood Restaurant.  I read about it online and was so sure where it was located.  I was convinced that it was located at the back of Din Tai Fung in Causeway Bay but then was confused.  I then asked a friend and was told that it was on the same building as DTF.  Ohhhhkay!  So THIS was the restaurant on the second floor - where we go up when we need to go to the toilet!  Argh..  I didn't know!
