Helping Elders..

Yesterday, I got the shock of my life inside a Daiso store in Magnolia. I've always been exposed to Pinoys that are very helpful to their elders.  We are all witness to it.  We were all taught to help and assist our elders right?  So this incident really shocked me. There was an elderly woman - let's call her Lola.  She was lined up in front of me at the cashier.  Then there is a girl - the cashier behind the counter.  Then another female staff that looked like the supervisor or manager collating unpurchased items beside me.  Then a male staff fixing stocks behind the counter.  Lola, after she paid and was given her purchases in a big plastic bag, she asked if she could borrow the cart to bring her purchases.  The supervisor behind me said that it wasn't possible.  The Lola said ' Mabigat kasi ' 'The bag is quite heavy' and she was ignored.  I then called the attention of the supervisor, I told her ' Baka pwede niyong tulun...

Helping Yolanda Haiyan victims

What are the things we can do to help the victims of Typhoon Yolanda / Haiyan? a)  VOLUNTEER - yes, there is a need of volunteers to help repack the donated goods.  Volunteer here in Manila, or better yet - if you have the means go to Tacloban to see what you can do to help. b)  DONATE- in cash or in kind.  Whatever it is, its a donation.  It will be highly appreciated. c)  PRAY - yes, Praying helps.  Say a prayer or two everyday for the victims. d)  Share RESPONSIBLY on Social Media - information is power and social media is one of the fastest means that is available.  But please share only verified information, in times like these - we need to be socially responsible what we share to the world wide web.  Adding insult to injury doesn't help.  What we can do?  Filter what we share.  Comment only when necessary.  I have been very quiet on social media because I don't want to sound like a know it all or preachy...

Looking for a WEDDING SINGER!!

Grabbed from this site Yes, for the first time ever - I am using my blog to help find that supplier. I am looking for a wedding singer. Nope, not the host slash wedding singer - I mean a wedding singer, wedding singer like Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer, sans the outfit of course! Hahaha!! Okay - so here's what we need: - A band that can play 80's hits (my Panget's panahon), 70's (our folk's panahon), 90's (my panahon) and contemporary songs. We don't like those cheesy love songs (Michael Buble type-ish, but if done in a not so cheesy with oh-so unique flair - game on!) - They should be able to play fast songs too! But not too loud naman, remember - we have oldies in the house!! (but when they leave, rock-on! ) - Singer should enunciate english words properly while singing :) (this is the OC in me talking!!) - They should be able to switch from fast to mellow-ish songs seamlessly (strict ba?!) - They should be able to play Tagalog songs too...
