Helping Elders..

Yesterday, I got the shock of my life inside a Daiso store in Magnolia. I've always been exposed to Pinoys that are very helpful to their elders.  We are all witness to it.  We were all taught to help and assist our elders right?  So this incident really shocked me. There was an elderly woman - let's call her Lola.  She was lined up in front of me at the cashier.  Then there is a girl - the cashier behind the counter.  Then another female staff that looked like the supervisor or manager collating unpurchased items beside me.  Then a male staff fixing stocks behind the counter.  Lola, after she paid and was given her purchases in a big plastic bag, she asked if she could borrow the cart to bring her purchases.  The supervisor behind me said that it wasn't possible.  The Lola said ' Mabigat kasi ' 'The bag is quite heavy' and she was ignored.  I then called the attention of the supervisor, I told her ' Baka pwede niyong tulun...

When your change is - KULANG, AGAIN!

UPDATE:  09/01/2014 2:50PM I called The Bistro Group this morning and was able to talk to Je Matias, Marketing for Watami.  I told her what happened and she apologized.  She asked for my name and contact number because the VP for Operations of Watami will call me to apologize.  I just spoke to a certain Rommel and he apologized on behalf of the group.  I accepted.  I told him that my beef wasn't about the P0.98 but with the manner the situation was handled.  I appreciate that they called me, it shows that they value customer service.  He also mentioned that this wasn't how they trained their staff to be. -------- I wrote about it before When your change is - KULANG. And I am writing about it again. Yesterday, we had lunch at Watami in Shangri-La Mall's East Wing.  We had an okay time.  I say okay because the servers were very busy offering their Bistro card.  I know it's business, but please - when we say no, we mean no. S...

Thank YOU iStudio!!

Last Tuesday, was just an ordinary day.  But then after lunch, when I opened my Macbook, I noticed that the trackpad wasn't working 100%.  Meaning when I was navigating it - and wanted to scroll down and click - I couldn't do so.  It wasn't responding at all.  I was nervous, so I would do what a normal person would - restart the computer.   Bad decision. It didn't restart.  What appeared was this:   I know nothing about computers.  All I know is how to turn it on and off.  Type and surf and compose.  That's it.  Anything more - I do not have an idea to do.  So when I saw this - I tried to search on my phone. I keyed in Y sign, 2 equal sign and a circle and a rectangle, I was desperate.  And then I finally clicked Images on Google and I found out that it was called FireWire.   I immediately called my go-to for Macbook repairs, Ynzal Marketing.  I sent my MB to them and they 'tested' it.  ...

When your change is - KULANG..

I really hate it when retailers don't give you the exact correct change.  What I hate more is that they expect you to understand without informing you that it's kulang!  They will just hand you the change and be silent.  I've often asked these cashers why their change is kulang and they will just reply with 'Wala po kaming sukli eh!'  or they will just give you more - just to silence you.  To me, that is not the point.  The point is - inform us that it is kulang.  I would appreciate it more and disregard the fact that it was kulang. Case in point: I know it's a teeny tiny amount - but my point is, will a cashier accept it if our payment was kulang?  Of course not, right?  They will demand that we pay in the right amount or not buy the item at all!  So, the same logic goes for me - demanding the correct change.  I called the attention of the cashier on this - and she looked at me with apologetic eyes and said that she didn't ...

My Cebuana Lhuillier Experience

02/27/2014 10:13PM UPDATE:  I received an email from Cebuana Lhuillier Cares.  Please see the screen shot at the bottom of the post. ----- I've been hearing a LOT about the Cebuana Lhuillier Pera Padala through my helpers.  They tell me that this mode of money transfer is very convenient for them.  All they need to do is to go to a Cebuana Center fill out a form and send the money.  Their relatives are able to claim the money sent through any branch provided that they give the control number and present a valid ID to which the pera padala was named for.  It was convenient because all you needed to do is give them the control number and voila, money can be claimed. Yesterday, for the first time - I tried it.  And it was a weird and different experience.  I am so used to transacting in banks that I find the procedure quite tedious and unnecessary.  Here's what happened I experienced: When I entered the Cebuana Lhuillier branch, I asked t...

The Bellevue Manila: Hospitality at its best!

I am not much of a local traveller, but what I am is a breakfast (buffet) addict.  I love going to hotels and restaurants to enjoy their breakfast offerings, especially buffets!  Ask my friend Kath, we've both enjoyed hours of eating and swapping stories over breakfast. So when my ever dearest Jane invited me to visit Alabang, and stay at The Bellevue Manila, I was thrilled!  First and foremost to meet her and I have to be honest - it was also because of the breakfast buffet.  Hahaha.. And so I went and drove to Alabang.  I enjoy driving - but don't tell my Panget ha - because when he learns of this, he will for sure make me drive places.  I honestly don't mind - but he's the 'boy' in the relationship, thus I have this standard that he still needs to drive me around - unless of course, he is indisposed - so I'd need to go solo and drive by myself. On that sunny Saturday morning, I drove to Alabang with my son Connor in tow.  The drive was really ...

Good Customer Service by Sugarhouse

I have been saying time and time again, that nothing beats good customer service.  So here I am writing about it!  I am very happy that at least the country, establishments are improving, customer service wise. So yesterday after we had lunch in Greenhills, we walked by Sugarhouse and decided that we would like to buy their Honey Cake.  My Panget said that since it was a holiday the next day - it would be a reward to us, that we had cake in the house.  You see, my Panget and I are so very fond of cakes and pastries.  And so we purchased a whole Honey Cake. It was only during our late breakfast that we ate the cake.  The cake looked kawawa because the center part was semi caved in already.  I cut out two slices, one for me and one for my Panget.  My slice in particular had an odd taste.  The 'honey' and the icing were not sweet - and instead, tasted a bit savoury (if you know what I mean).  I ignored it and thought tasted another bit...

Ms. Vance Collona

One of the if not the BEST customer service representative I've spoken to in years! and she's from the Cebu Pacific hotline! 70-20-888 The person I spoke before her dropped my call when I asked for her name. Bad move! And so when I called back - it was Ms. Vance Collona who took my call and assisted me. She told me firs and foremost that they're NOT allowed to drop their calls! She was very patient, very helpful and very eager to finish the transaction! She's good at what she does! She even helped me track down the CSR I spoke to who dropped the call! Now, that's great customer service! I couldn't believe that she was so willing to help me! Most of the CSR I spoke to help only to a certain extent! But Ms. Vance Collona - she exceeded my expectations! Mabuhay ka Vance !! I just hope I got your name right! And because of the superb customer service given me - you deserve a SPOT here in my blog! Good work girl! It's people like you that make me b...
