J&J Bedtime Discoveries

Last Saturday, I attended the Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Discoveries event. I was actually surprised that I was invited, since I was just recently married and not yet a mom. But I then realized - that maybe, this was in preparation for something. And that something is - having children! No, I'm not yet expecting - although I look like I am ( since I gained weight after the wedding ) I have been dodging looks and questions if I was expecting already - but it's inevitable. They say - it's the next step, and I have to agree with them. I love kids - I enjoy taking care of them. Call me crazy, but I volunteer myself as a baby-sitter to my friends. I enjoy the process of taking care of kiddies. Kids are adorable right? It was only during the event, that I learned that there is such a thing as a proper process in putting a baby to sleep. There is a 'science' behind putting a baby's sleep. I honestly wondered what it was all about - I mean, come on! A sci...

Dialogues at Starbucks

Inspiration. I have this theory that Inspiration is paying it forward. You must be inspired with something or by someone to have the feeling of a certain 'high' that drives you to do certain things. Thus you pay it forward by doing something that inspired you. Somehow it inspires someone thus the cycle continues. Last Saturday - I was honored to be invited by Starbucks to join the first leg of their Dialogues at Starbucks. They had 2 guest speakers - the first was Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet and the second was JP Tanchanco of Tanchanco Tri-Media Productions . Anton Diaz As for Anton - his theme was Proud to be Pinoy. Those who follow his blog can see how proud he is of our country! I've actually never seen him do a 'talk' I've bumped into him and his lovely wife numerous times - once even travelling with him to Corregidor. You can really sense his eagerness and thirst for new discoveries. The best thing about him is that - he shares it to us thro...

Remarkable Hilary Clinton

Last Saturday night, I was having a hard time sleeping. I was channel surfing, hoping to get bored and somehow sleepy. During these wee hours - I try and take a sneek peak on the US news channels, hoping to have a glimpse of what's hot and new over there. I was in luck! Hilary Clinton was giving her exit speech. I just have to give snaps to her speech writer! The speech was brilliantly written - it didn't seem long! And I really can feel the emotion on the speech. While listening to her, I so much admired her strength - conceding is not easy but she made it look easy. She repeated countless of time that she is behind Barack Obama and asks her supporters to support him. How I wish that politics here in the Philippines is the same. I salute you Hilary Clinton! You are truly great! To read the full text of her speech - click HERE . As for my favorite lines, here they are: to the moms and dads who came to our events, who lifted their little girls and little boys on their s...

May May's Wedding..

Photo borrowed from Flowers of Wood I met May May for the first time a month before we left for Beijing in 2002. I intially thought she was a tall girl because she sat up really straight. She had a nice posture - even when seated! Come departure day - I was shocked to learn that she was shorter than I expected - I first wondered who the girl that was walking towards us was! It was May May pala .. There were only 3 girls in the group - that was me, Kath and May May. We were sure to be roommates - and when we first saw our apartment - our hearts fell. It was sort of dingy - nothing like the comforts we were atuned with. Disappointed - we sat in our big red couch and became silent - I don't remember who said this but I remember hearing 'What are we doing here?!' Haha.. Those were the first reactions. And the rest was history. We shared so many memories - 6 months of living together, walking to school, biking to school, traveling, drinking, watching endless reruns of...

U2 in Manila 2008?

Smart Infinity dinner..

Last night, my Panget's cutie friend M - invited us for a dinner hosted by Smart Infinity at The Fireplace in Hyatt Hotel and Casino . We had no information whatsoever on what the event was for - we were just told to dress in formal attire in black or red - that was it! And so when we got to the place - we were like clueless kids walking into a gathering for the first time! We were greeted warmly by Mr. Johnny Litton - he was such a charmer! As we entered the restaurant - My Panget and I were actually feeling out of place because those who were invited to the event - well, they were part of the society's big guns! Who were we to be there? We couldn't believe that we were in the midst of the movers and shakers in society. There was the son of the country's biggest mall developer, the wife of the co-owner of the country's biggest mall developer's hardware department, the grand son of the country's foremost broadsheet, the editor of a known fashion glo...

Bringing the sensation from the US, we are launching the concept of mineral makeup here in the Philippines. Six brands would be joining, and as a treat, free samples will be given away, as well as free makeovers and skin consultations. Moreover, talks will be held by skin specialists, makeup artists, and MMU brand owners as they showcase their strengths and advantages, and show us how to create simple yet stunning day and night looks.

a Beauty-filled day..

It actually was... :) I went to meet Tammy Tan to fit the dress I had made for S 's wedding - after which - I went to attend Sophie's Beauty and Minerals day! Beauty & Vanity - they go hand in hand I think... :) I was actually late for the 2 events. But first things first. The dress I had made turned out so nice! I loved it! There were only minor adjustments and everything else was close to perfect! One complaint though - it seemed as if my front bumpers shrinked! Dang it! But Tammy made suggestions, thanks Tammy !! :) She also had me try on this wrap dress - I first thought that it might not fit me because of the size, but when I wore it! My gosh - it was perfect! I loved it sooooooo much! Even my Panget said it looked great! Thanks Tammy !! I'm such a big fan of hers! She's such a sweetheart!! Arns, if you happen to see this - you're one lucky guy!! My friend Annie was also there, not to mention my Panget. You see, he's the ever curious -...

Weddings

It's officially the season of Weddings. Last Saturday, at S 's bridal shower - S handed me my official invite to her wedding. I don't know why - but when I got home - I stared at it for about 10 minutes - I looked at it over and over again. I couldn't believe she's already getting married! It seems like only yesterday that she was telling us how her then boyfriend A - proposed to her. I was so happy to hear the news. Actually, I wasn't surpirsed - you see, I dreamt that she told me she was already getting married. She assumed that my Panget (who's her cousin) told me about her fiance's plans - but honestly - I found out in my dream - I only confirmed it was true when she told me. (There's a saying that if you dream of something and you want it to come true - you shant tell anyone - I'm a bit superstitious you see...) In less than a month she will become Mrs. A.K.L . We were just sending one another text messages after my Yoga class a...

Market Man's EB

EDSA traffic - on a S aturday night en route to The Fort Going out on a Saturday night may cause headaches - why? Well, simply because everybody in the Metro WANTS to be out. But nevertheless - my Panget, Jen and I weaved through EDSA just to get to Gourdo's at The Fort in time for dinner. It was a special occassion for Jen and I because FINALLY - we will be meeting Market Man . I have been a lurker of his blog and now I will be meeting him in the flesh, in the flesh! Most of you must be wondering - why I am excited at all?! Well, because in the local blog scene - Market Man is a celebrity, yes - he definitely is. I love his blog, I love his humor, I love reading his thoughts on just about anything. On the information super highway, it is a rarity that one can put a face to a handle(nick name) because everyone remains anonymous (unless of course if you're friends with that certain person). This month - I am celebrating my blog anniversary - it was just last year that...

Excited, super duper excited!

I am super excited for tomorrow night's buffet dinner at Gourdo's! Finally, I will be meeting Market Man face-to-face. I have been a lurker of his blog for the past six months and I must say, I love his blog - I visit it almost everyday(actually, everyday..) - hoping that when I click on his link - I will be reading a new entry. At the same time, I will be able to put faces with the names of the other blogs that I frequent. When I read that MM was entertaining thoughts of having a 2nd EB - I was delighted. I immediately sent an SMS to my good friend Jen (who I miss by the way...) asking her I she was game, to be honest - I don't think I need to ask! She was deinitely game. Great! The plan is now close to perect! One thing left to do - and that is to convince my Panget to attend with me. I had to think of something, something great and unique - to try convince him to come with me. Good thing, the EB asked for the attendees to bring desserts - a dessert buffet. ...

October 24 - A Holiday!!

I just learned of this 'officially' last night. Another holiday, yipee!! But its in the middle of the week - oh well, at least Monday night - we can do whatever!! :) hahaha.. :) Palace declares Oct. 24 as regular holiday in observance of Feast of Ramadhan FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2006 | GOVERNMENT MANAGEMENT In order to bring to the fore of national consciousness the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr, the Muslim Feast of Ramadhan, Malacanang has declared Tuesday, Oct. 24, as a regular holiday nationwide. In Proclamation 1155 which Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita signed today, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo cited the need to promote cultural understanding and integration.
