Halloween with IFLIX!

Before the era of internet, there was one Halloween tradition that was practiced by Filipinos in the country.  And that is to watch Magandang Gabi Bayan's Halloween Special.  It was shown the Saturday prior to October 31 (in case it didn't fall on a Saturday).  I remember most everyone would watch it intently and was looking forward to it every year.  And when school resumed after the break - everyone of us would tell ghost stories we heard from friends and friends of friends.

I honestly don't know what happened to that special - if it still airs now, but what I can tell you is that - you can not watch a selection of Halloween/Horror themed movies on IFLIX!  Their selection is quite interesting!  So, if you're wanting to have that horror thrill in your lives this Halloween, look no further and experience it with IFLIX!!

 Gonjiam Haunted Asylum

Gonjiam is Korea’s most haunted hospital. A “lucky” few have been recruited to participate in a horror show that will be livestreamed via the internet. To keep viewers hooked, the producers set up a few scares for the unwitting guests. It’s all thrills and chills until things take a darker turn. The film stars Wi Ha-Joo, Park Ji-Hyun and Oh Ah-Yeon.

 Hide And Never Seek (Tagalized version)

A program host who specializes in livestreaming horror-themed programs mysteriously receives a video of a missing female high school student. In the video she is supposedly calling a ghost while playing hide and (go) seek alone. Intrigued, he heads out to find out what really happened.

Hong Yea Eun, Jo Bok-Rael, Lee Soo-Bin star in this suspenseful movie directed by Lee Doo-Hwan.

JailangKung 2 (Indonesia)


In this Indonesian horror film, Tasya (Amanda Rawles) watches an old video showing her father communicating with her late mother through Jailangkung. She attempts to create her own Jailangkung, hoping to meet her mother who passed away during childbirth. However, her spell invites in an evil spirit instead who terrorizes her family. Original characters Bella & Rama, with the help of a new friend, Bram, once again have to save their family from evil forces.

 Patient 7 

The film centers on Dr. Marcus, a renowned psychiatrist who has selected six mentally-ill and dangerous patients from the Spring Valley Mental Hospital to interview as research for his new book. As Dr. Marcus interviews each patient, he suspects their horrific stories are all connected to someone known as Patient Seven. The film stars Alfie Allen, Charlie Bond and Christian Brassington, and is directed by Danny Draven.

Sundo


Romano (Robin Padilla) finds out that he has the ability to see ghosts surrounding people about to die. His sister Isabel (Rhian Ramos) and their close friends convince him to travel to Manila to consult a doctor about his condition. On their way back, they avoid getting into a deadly car accident and get home safe. Now the group must try to escape their respective “sundo,” and cheat death. The film is directed by Topel Lee.

The Chosen – Forbidden Cave (Tagalized Version)

 A Psychologist, Jin Myeong, moonlights as an exorcist. With the help of his apprentice, Ji Gwang, he hopes to exorcise Keum Joo from a bizarre possession. Kisa Tanah Jawa (iflix Originals – Indonesia) (Premieres October 31)

#CookingQuest: Winter Melon Soup ala Didi #EnhancedCommunity

One of the things that gets ooohs and aaaahs in a chinese restaurant is the #WinterMelonSoup.   You may ask why?  Well because with this soup, restaurants use the winter melon itself as a huge bowl to serve the soup!  It's a sight to see as you'll be amazed how they were able to pull it off.  You'll see the whole winter melon, and then suddenly they're take out the top part and when you peek in, the soup is inside together with meat bits and other veggies!  My mom has tried it at home, and I remember her being nervous that the winter melon doesn't break apart, kunde sira ang presentation! So during this #EnhancedCommunityQuarantine, I chanced upon Theo's Farm that they have winter melon, so I ordered.  When I saw it - I knew I wouldn't be able to pull off the carving and serving the winter melon.  It actually made the preparation easier.  I had to ask my mom, and she told me to steam the winter melon to soften it.  Honestly, I don't think I can w

#CookingQuest: Chicken Stir Fry

When I was little, I used to see my mom, guama and aunt cook in the kitchen.  I found it amazing, that they have this idea in their heads on what to cook for us.  I remember my guama had small bits of plastic that when opened contained shirmp and cooked pork fat.  I asked her what it was for, and she told me that it was to add 'flavor' to the dish whatever it was.  I don't remember seeing her look at any cook book or a paper with recipe.  She just whipped them all up! When I got older, I became interested in baking - baking because I was afraid of splattering oil.  So I stuck to baking for a while.  It was only when I got married that I had to dive in and cook.  When my Panget and I were newly married, we didn't have a helper during the weekend, so I had to step up.  There were times that we didn't have a helper at all (we borrowed my mom's helper to clean), so I had to do all the cooking.  It was there that I learned to whip something up with just ing
