Vaseline Petroleum Jelly: 101 Ways

I was never a fan of petroleum jelly.  In fact, I used to not like it – as is quite sticky.  The only use I’ve found for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly before having kids was just a lip balm.

When I had kids, it was a different story altogether.  I became a fan and was impressed with the benefits of using petroleum jelly when Kailee was diagnosed with skin asthma.  Our pediatrician suggested we try to put them on her rashes – and it worked!  Since then, we’d always have a pot of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly in the house and in our baby bag.

Since my two kids have skin asthma, I’ve gone through sooo much lotions and medicines and practices to help ease their skin conditions.  For the past 5 years, I have sorted through products and brands from all over to help my kids’ skin condition.  But one thing was constant – it was our use of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly with a medicine that has helped us through major flare ups.

You see, as with everyone – I was quite uncomfortable when a pedia dermatologist suggested that I use steroids.  I’ve honestly heard so many bad things about steroids – but I didn’t have a choice one time – because Kailee’s flare up was really bad that time.  The pedia derma that I went to said that steroids were made to be used correctly, most stories we hear are the bad effect because of being used in a different way.  But mind you, I thank these steroids because they helped Kailee’s skin and have managed to calm the itch.

I was telling another pediatrician about how I am a bit scared when I needed to use steroidal creams on my kids – she then suggested to mix the steroid cream with petroleum jelly.  According to her, it may help diffuse the *strong* steroid and make it less *stressful* (in my mind) when I put them on the kids.  So that day, I got home and since we always have a tub of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly – I did what she suggested.

It has been a miracle mixture that we are using until now.  I owe a LOT to Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.  It has seen us through so many flare ups and it has been our *miracle mixture* for so many years.

And that’s just one of the 101 ways to use petroleum jelly.

I remember by aunt who used to show me how to remove eye make-up using petroleum jelly and cotton buds.  I used to see my mom and other aunts lather cold cream all over their face - and it was messy.  Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is almost clear and so easy to use too.  You don't need too much product to remove make up.

So happy that these Vaseline Petroleum Jellies are now in the market.  Mind you, they're made in the USA.  Yes, these are imported products - it comes in two sizes (look at the first image).  Hooray for us!  No need to scout for them at PX stores.
